# Files
A file is a document or media file you upload to CherryPic. Files live in your library alongside bookmarks and notes, and are organized the same way.
# Adding a File
Use the Add button and choose File, then pick the file to upload. On iOS and Android you can also share a file to CherryPic.
# Supported File Kinds

Each kind has its own file properties (shown in the file's Metadata section). Files also get a type like any other item.
# Reading Files
- PDFs open in the built-in PDF reader.
- EPUBs open in the built-in EPUB reader.
- You can highlight text in files, and a file's card shows its highlights indicator.
