# Habits

A habit is something you want to do regularly (a Build habit) or stop doing (a Quit habit). You check in on each day, and CherryPic tracks your progress against the habit's schedule and goal.

# Creating a Habit

Choose Habit from the create menu, or use Add in the habit tracker.

You can also add a collection, tags, and a reminder.

# Frequency

Frequency Example
Every day Meditate daily
Specific weekdays Gym on Tuesday and Thursday
Specific dates of the month Pay rent on the 1st
Days per week (1–7) Run 3 days a week, any days
Days per month (1–31) Call family 4 times a month

Specific month dates are literal: a habit set for the 31st doesn't happen in months without one.

# Goal Units

Pages, Words, Times, Steps, Seconds, Minutes, Hours, Kilometers, Miles, Meters, Centimeters, Millimeters, Inches, Feet, Yards, Kilograms, Pounds.

# Checking In

Tap a day to cycle its status: Done → Not Done → Skipped.

  • For a habit with an amount goal, Done records the full target. Enter a smaller amount to log partial progress (for example 4/10 pages). The day only counts as complete when the target is reached.
  • Not Done and Skipped never count as complete.
  • Future dates can't be logged.
  • In the week and month views you can edit several days at once, then Save or Cancel.

# Views and Progress

View Shows
Day Today's habits, amounts against targets, completed and optional habits grouped
Week Seven days per habit, with checkmarks, partial amounts, and skipped markers
Month A total and meter per habit; open it for a full calendar
Year Twelve month bars; open a month to see its days

Progress messages include Ready to log, Partial progress, Completed (Build) or Stayed on track (Quit), Had a setback, N check-ins to go, and Goal met.

Each habit also has a progress screen with its completion rate, longest streak, heatmaps, and a weekday breakdown.

# How Goals Are Counted

  • Scheduled habits (every day, weekdays, month dates) count completed days out of scheduled days in the period.
  • Days per week / month habits count check-ins against the quota, but only in the matching period: a weekly goal shows progress in the Week view, and a monthly goal in the Month view.
  • A short first week or month lowers the target to the days available, so a 3-day weekly habit started on a Saturday needs only 2 that week.
